My name is Chris, and this summer I will be riding my motorcycle across Canada in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Over the 34 day ride, I will be stopping in all major cities from coast to coast, and meeting with local MS societies and media, all while updating this site with photos and video of the trip. The ride starts July 17 in St. John’s NL, heading west to Victoria BC, and wrapping up in Edmonton AB on August 19, 2012.
The Route
The total distance based on the route I’ve picked is 11,940km (7419mi). Follow me on this trip across Canada by visiting this website, and also keeping up to date via twitter and facebook. Please donate to help all Canadians, worldwide patients, and of course my inspiration, my sister who also has MS.
What is MS?
Having multiple sclerosis means that one morning you may not be able to walk when you wake up. Or that you may suddenly have impaired vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. The symptoms of MS are many and vary for everyone. It’s estimated that approximately 55,000-75,000 men and women in Canada have the disease, and every day about three more people are diagnosed.
Ride Route
I plan on starting at the Terry Fox Monument in St. John’s NL on July 17, riding west to Vancouver Island, then back north east to finish off at the east grounds of the Provincial Legislature on August 19, 2012 at 4pm. The ride will start at 1 Water Street, St. John’s, NL.
